The Armor of God
In Ephesians 6:13- 17, the Word lays out a key principle of success for any person who will lean in and listen with a heart to receive:
13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
What This Means:
When you get an understanding of the above, you will be armored for the rest of your life to persevere, to be resilient, and to boldly and confidently walk and speak in authority and power.
We do that by putting on the full armor of God: we can stand firm on truth, the Word of God is true, so we put on the belt of truth around our waist, it provides stability and integrity to everything which is attached to the belt.
The shield of righteousness shields our heart from spiritual attack, deception, and temptation, it imputes the righteousness’ of Christ Jesus, because he is the only one who has lived a sinless life.
‘Feet shod with the gospel of peace” means we are prepared to share the message of Christ Jesus with others wherever we go.
Take up the Shield of Faith is a defensive tactic to withstand the darts of the wicked one, meaning we overcome doubt, fear, temptation, and deception by Faith. We must hold strong to our Faith in God’s promise and apply relevant truths to the attack.
Then the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit is attached to the belt; it’s the Word of God. We meditate of the Word both day and night, and we proactively fight back by speaking God’s Word in all circumstances and situations.
And finally, through prayer and petition we activate the Holy Spirit, the third entity of the Godhead. He is the Comforter, the inner dwelling Spirit of God in believers. Jesus promised that he would not leave us without the Comforter. On the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit was poured out for all who believe. He guides and directs us in life. Therefore, we pray for the welfare of others. Not just for those who are Christians, but for all people. This is a freedom truth that allows us to be a light in a world full of darkness.
